Remember, Ash's backpack is pretty small to carry much change of clothes with him. Its likely that all three of the trio wore the same underwear for around 3~5 days on average in these instances of extended dislocation from society. Not a pretty thought when you think of how much sweat buildup hiking with heavy luggage can result in.
