For ash to even be in this tournament i would change the entire anime so every region is at least one year and ash grows up a bit each season
>10: ash is a kid starting his journey, he fails to win the kanto league
>11:ash tries again in johto, he beats gary but he still has things to learn so he loses again
>12: ash tries in hoenn, now having someone like max makes slightly more sense to show ash has matured a little bit
>13: ash goes all out on sinnoh until Tobias shows up and destroys him
>14: ash hasn't fully moved on and still does terrible in unova but at least he starts to realize he needs change of attitude after iris says "you are such a kid" enough times
>15:at this age serena's crush would make more sense and maybe ash would actually show feelings for her, or reject her either way is better than nothig, ash still loses to alan
>16: ash takes a vacation to alola and ends up as kukui's assistant where he finds a father figure and finally wins a league
>18: ash is now a young adult and sees working with sakuragi as a good way to continue his journeys and visiting all of his old friends, then he gets in the master tournament, but now he is more than just the kid with shonen protagonist powers, he is a young trainer with years of experience
but besides that, this tournament really needed to be 6v6 and it needed an ash vs alan rematch, everything is just going way too fast the only real battle with any build up will be leon vs ash
