The pokemon company is now focusing most of their resources into making mobile apps because they want to match the success of pokemon go. Gamefreak is beginning to realize that mobile apps is probably going to be the new focus for the pokemon company which means they might be left behind in the dust. In order to have a back up plan with some source of income just incase things go badly for gamefreak they decided to branch off pokemon and make new games.
