>>22502155I seemed to have missed this entire day's version of the perpetual shitshow but after skimming it seems like you didn't get a single piece of good feedback in the fray. That's unfortunate.
To start off, it is an improvement. The one thing that it falls down on and still does a bit is being "hard to read". The shading and geometry of the object get a little jumbled when you get to the smaller more to the sides parts and frankly it doesn't work very well there. What you did by upping the contrast and editing the shading shapes a bit in the top two layers helped with that a lot. However, what you did with the bottom right side of the tree didn't improve it. The old one was hard to read but the new one lacks dimension. I don't know how you're going to fix that but I think that there's a middle ground somewhere. That area is marked in red for convenience's sake. The other major thing that could still be improved on is the bits of tree poking out. They work a lot toward making it not look painted but maybe get rid of them in the top layer (marked in blue for convenience's sake). In this space you don't have a lot of room to convey what the thing is so you shouldn't clutter it with greenery. The last improvement I can thin of is darkening the darkest shade of the snow you use for the outlines of the tiers to give them a tad more contrast.
About halfway through I got a bit of the "Aw, fuck it, it's great already." feels so you're close.
