I’m currently playing X for the first time and there is a few things that surprised me
1. Hex Maniac appears a lot later in the game then I would have expected for a normalfag meme character. I would have assumed most players would have dropped that game before seeing a single hex maniac.
2. The fireworks scene is a lot earlier than I would have expected. It seems weird that the game forces an implied romantic scene before really getting to know Shauna.
3. I assumed because this game was designed around the new exp share system that playing the game I usually do, which is primarily using one Pokémon, would be very punishing as I am artificially restricting the amount of xp I get from battles by 1/6 the amount I should be getting. But actually this game has been the most generous Pokémon game I have played in terms of xp. I am currently on victory road at level 93 with 4 rare candies. It is very likely I will be level 100 before defeating the champion which has never happened to me before when playing a mainline Pokémon game.
4. Very few trainers use mega evolution. I would have thought after obtaining the mega bracelet that the next gym leaders would also use mega evolutions, but no they don’t. So far Lysandre has been the only other trainer who used it, and I’m almost done with this game.
5. Everyone talks about exp share and mega evolution trivializing this game, but I’ve never heard anyone talk about O powers. O powers allow you to give your Pokémon a state stage buff before a battle begins. For example, if I use the attack power level 2 O power, my lead Pokémon will gain two stages of attack on its first turn AND I am able to attack normally on the same turn as well. This system pretty much allows you to effortlessly sweep any team you come across, mega evolution is not required.
6. Where is the Pokémon close up minigame?! This is the one thing I was looking forward to and I was never given any information by the game on how to access it.
