>>41688240I honest to god love XY to death, and I'm not Zeldacycling, I've loved them since the first time I played them. I'm aware they're full of flaws, I'm not going to pretend that's not the case, and I'm also aware it was the beginning of the end in many ways, but even so I think it was such a lovely and insanely fun game. I love megas, thought it was a really refreshing concept, loved being able to play with my Pokemon in Amie, the PSS gave me the incentive to battle and trade for the first time, and it was also the first time I completed the dex and actually had fun doing so. Shiny hunting/chaining in friend safaris/sea, looking for stones, breeding, simply strolling through the cities (which to me are very beautiful) was really nice and I spent a lot of hours at it. I also LOVE the OST, it had some lows, like the Gym Leader theme, but otherwise I think the city themes, bike, Lysandre's, Diantha's, and SPECIALLY the Legendaries' theme was absolutely spectacular. I don't understand how people can say the OST is forgettable when it was this good.
Dex wise I think it played it pretty safe, most are very traditional creatures with a simple but effective design approach, with more natural colors, which I really liked, but it didn't have many Pokemon that made me go "Whoa, this is amazing" (sans Greninja, Xerneas and the Fletchling line, I think they're all gorgeous) compared to other gens. What bad Pokemon it had I don't think were too bad either, they were all Johto simplemon tier at most, nothing which made me go "what the fuck is this"
like the Sinnoh and Galar dex make me feel.
Story wise I liked what we had, sure it could've been fleshed out more, specially Lysandre and Diantha having more involvement instead of being a "Remember that chick from the cafe? Yeah, that's the champion". At least AZ story was really good and was told in a more progressive manner as you advanced, through many little hints that you pieced together, I liked that.
