Gen 3 feels like the last generation where you're being talked down to like an idiot. Having characters talk about how amazing and a good friend you are is condescending. Brendan/May and Wally still did that stuff, sure, but they all appear few and far between. Dialogue in that generation felt more spordiac and nuanced, kind of like in Gen 1 and 2. Gen 4 was in a transition between its old and new dialogue, and by Gen 5, it's mostly being told "hurr player is so cool and kind" by every character ever.
It's very autistic, but the dialogue became shit by Gen 5. I want Nob Ogasawara back.
