>>40395828Yes, which is why saying "IT'S CHARISMATIC" is a null point in terms of design quality because any design can be portrayed charismatically. Why do you think there's so many Ugly Duckling stories? They exist to showcase people can have lots of different personalities independently of what they look like. That's why, at least in terms of Pokemon, i only care about the design itself regardless of how it behaves.
Solid Snake is a unique character that depends on his personality to define him. The Nameless One's personality is so important to his character that he's, well, nameless. Pokemon are not like that. Their quality and character mostly hinges on their physical design.
Anyways, another reason why Incineroar is so divisive is that he's a 3-Stage starter with little lead up to his Final Stage. I can guarantee you that if Incineroar was a 2-stage pokemon caught in the wild with his base stage being Purrloin-like in physiology, but obviously with a more wrestling oriented theme, he'd lose a lot of detractors. He just doesn't make a lot of sense in his line in retrospect. Kinda like how G0dra feels tacked on and generic compared to its preevos.
>>40395887Swirlix is better because you can argue that Poodles can look like fluffy cotton candy, but Slurpuff hardly looks doglike and it's hard to come up with a convincing way to connect a dog with a cupcake feasibly unlike the Poodle/Cotton Candy connection that comes quite easily. I still like it tho.
