>>38412715>Yes you can have 20+ pokemon but isn't the like caring for multiple household pets? How do they do it?I think having as many Pokemon as you do in the games is just something of a 'video game mechanic' and isn't something reflected in the actual reality of the Pokemon world. I don't think normal people or even anyone who just does Pokemon battles for fun and as a hobby isn't going to have any more than 1 to 3 Pokemon at their disposal... Because they have to feed them, clean up after them, and you're a video game character.
Like, look back at the vast majority of the people you battled Pokemon with in the games and who were they? They were just normal folks.
-Children often have weak normal or bug pokemon who were most likely caught because they couldn't escape a 100 yen pokeball. They're also super easy to take care of and age quickly.
-Most adults seem to use Pokemon that are either pets/companions that fit their lifestyle or Pokemon that help them with their job. Hikers have Geodude, Florists and Gardeners have Gloom, Martial Artists have Machoke, and Electricians have Magnemite. Some of these people probably met, tamed, and befriended their Pokemon just through the lives they've lived.
-The Ace trainers are obviously the exception and not the rule. They're the people actively devoting themselves to Pokemon Battles and are going to have competitively viable teams despite the upkeep n' so forth.
