I've been watching the anime since the original and you know what? i've been enjoying SM and PM so far, yet i don't enjoy the XY run for some numerous reason, one of the reason is XYfags always ruining my enjoyment it seeped to makes me hate XY. Then SM appears. At first i don't like how Ash looked, but the more i see plus how the animation quality were more extra even in non-battle scene makes me love it so much.

It isn't really "hard work pays off" since some of his hard works doesn't pays off well just like real life, but it's more of the "enjoying the ride in 90's" narrative. But i agree about every anime discussion derails to shippings which is tiring
