If there is one complaint I feel I should voice about XY, is that the characters and the "story" were too 1-dimensional.
Outside of Lysandre and possibly Serena, the characters were shallow, had no development and I felt no emotional attachtment at all to any of the characters, and even them aren't what I would consider good characters.
I understand that Pokemon is not supposed to be Final Fantasy/Earthbound/etc., but I thought that with White and Black we would be getting something resembling a plot.
I mean, come on, what was Team Flare? I'm still not completely sure what their goal was because I was too distracted by the whole "Oh SOooOO /fa/" gimmick they had. The Admins/Scientists were incredibly forgettable with their mustache-twirling villainy. Even Hoenn antagonists were more remarkable.
Lysandre had potential, but he's definitely not comparable to N or Ghetsis.
Or what about the rest of the kids? They are defined by 1 trait, show basically 1 or 2 emotions, and remained static. Compare them to Bianca or Cheren and you'll see it clearly.
Not to mention the Gym Leaders and Champion remained useless, to distracted with their weird hobbies to show up to fight against the team that wants to commit mass murder.
All in all, I enjoyed the gameplay of XY, but I think the story was a dissapointment from what they were building up in Black&White.
