For the most parrt I agree with OP, but here's how I see it:
>RBY: muh nostalgia but they're pretty much all the same thing after Ninetales outside of design
Moves where just like any other type
>GSC: copypasta starter stats (at least the other two were repositioned stats) some unique type combos, but not counting legends all new fires you don't even see until AFTER Johto
No good new moves
>RSE: kicking off the Fire/Fighting starter trend, very few new fires, but at least you get to use them
Overheat is a nice touch, although Wisp wasn't intended for fires back then
>DPPT: copypasta starter type and ALMOST stats, "So we don't have to make ANY new Fire types, let's just shit out the best and most useful one to compensate for it!" FUCKING GENIUS
Physical/Special split and the good new moves really separated the decent from the shitty fires, bringing back a few older ones to the roster
>BWBW2: ANOTHER Fire/Fighting starter, but here's where Fire actually starts to get good though, the most amount given, unique typings, good and/or decent stats, decently stretched through the region
Mostly exclusives for moves, Flame Charge is a godsend.
I like so far what's being shown for XY fires, but only time will tell...
As for thinking up new fires, a Fire/Ghost zombie desert frog with Water Absorb would be pretty badass.
