There's nothing wrong with having big maps, but there are a few apparent flaws with the level layout.
First of all your map is too linear. The one non-linear part is the river, which totally brakes the level design logic of the map.
The way you fix to fix such mistakes is by setting a goal of the map, which in this case let's say is reaching the house to the top right corner.
Another problem from you map being too linear is the amount of backtracking the player has to do. It's easily fixable with shortcuts and HM obstacles.
