Fourth, and I am sure a few of you guys here will call this heracy, but I hate hate HATE the shitty fanart where they give May big boobs. She's 12, and I always respect and enjoy fanart when artists draw characters appropriately, keeping their designs and proportions accurate. The animators showed her with a larger bust in a few episodes of the anime, and basically the entire community started to headcanon that she is running around with DD's. I don't hate tits, but I dont want them slapped onto every girl ever, either. Nobody would want to see a flat-chested Lorelei, and I feel that way about big tits on May.
Fifth, her fanbase is cancer. Usually anyways. Seen countless May shitposters on /vp/ in the past 5 years. Not accusing you guys, but I usually see May posters being obnoxious and shoving the girl everywhere when she's honestly pretty bland IMO.
Sixth, overatted. This is partly connected to her fanbase I guess, but I think she is the most bland designed protag of them all, barring FRLG with no name, and Kris. And those girls aren't even canon so they don't count.
Seventh, while I don't particularly love her redesign, I felt like it was a new presentation of May that I could maybe like (Although perhaps too "cutesy", and lost a bit of her adventure look?), but the fanbase insists on sticking to jerking over the old versions.
Eight, she was just one part of why the anime went to shit. I don't like Misty, but bringing May in just to advertise the new games to girls, and give boys "eye candy", just feels wrong to me, and goes hand-in-hand with all the poor decisions that ruined any hope of the anime growing and improving.
So yeah, I just feel like she is nothing special and I am sick of her being pushed everywhere with shitty art like she is the best thing ever, when so many better and underappreciated girls go unnoticed. I'd be friendlier to Mayfags if they weren't so autistic and inflammatory to me in the past
