I think the main problem with Pokespe is that some of the story's aspects are really rushed. For instance, the Mask of Ice's motives are understandable from his perspective, but some readers can't sympathize with him since his whole exposition/backstory was explained in just a couple pages. There was also NO foreshadowing for it except during the beginning with DJ Mary's song. If there was nothing leading up to it, it just makes the reveal seem out of the blue. Honestly, if the author didn't rush with the arc and maybe elaborated with some of these things little by little throughout the volumes, then maybe the manga's story could be better, but as of now it does, in fact, feel inconsistent.
Though in his defense, the author is working with a franchise without a clear finale in sight, so I can't blame him for pulling crap out of ass when needed. I just want better pacing is all.
