I knew this was gonna diff people out, but it's not cause I hate anyone, it's just that I've worked out there are a LOT of problems giving everyone what they wanted. Everyone's got all these expectations about things they wanted because it was on previous gens and some of it just caused problems. Also, the server just turned into something that wasn't challenging me or felt fun to play. The only challenges was the jannie shit, the duping, the weird ecosystem of mods that aren't well documented or struggle to work together... well it's a lot of things I should have better anticipated. I was warned very early there's a lot of ways to kill a server, like making it too easy to blitz content, letting pvp diff people out, making travel too convenient, giving out perks through discord servers, etc.
I will avoid these pitfalls, but I'm going to make the game a bit more like vanilla minecraft typically. I know some people won't want that, but I got a reasonable number of people who are still playing at the end of December or in the last couple of days that said this was something they might still want. Notably, we were far from the 18-player peak highs who wanted the more casual experience but few of those people were playing at the end. If only 7 people are coming back regularly this month and interest eventually dies in February, I wouldn't truly regret that. But maybe some of you will come around to a rawer experience when you see the mitigations I'm putting in.
>>57180128For example, the issues of waystones and teleportation is going to be mitigated, I think, by the increased speeds of flying Pokemon mounts. I only got to experience it for a couple days, but it was fantastic, being able to fly thousands of blocks across the map in a relatively short time. I think this really works. Cobblemon puts waystones in nearly all the Gimmi Towers, so they're not hard to find.
