2) Kanto, to my surprise, seems like it'd be legitimately fun to explore. Johto is too rustic, Hoenn has too many water routes, Sinnoh is irritating as a location and Unova is too simplistic.
3) Sinnoh, though I hate the D/P/Plat games because of the Pokemon and the area, I liked all the gym leaders a lot, and while Barry was a fucking idiot he was at least as close to a competent rival battler as we've had, especially if you let him have Infernape.
In summation, I dunno, some blend of the three I guess.
