>>54534692>moot point and retarded to bitch aboutNearly every single 'climactic' episode of this series has hinged upon a magical artifact coming Liko's rescue, no other series has made this chosen one bullshit the center of its entire identity. Several movies have put Ash in the position of being a chosen one or a descendent or interacting with some kind of magic that makes him fly or come back to life, but the movies are of little consequence and suck anyway. We're like 25 episodes into Horizons and every fucking time Liko is in danger she gets saved by magic.
At large, Pokemon's general concept is befriending and training creatures to overcome adversity. Liko's magical pendant doesn't really factor into this because it smashes through adversity without any input from Liko herself, and her relationships with the magical Pokemon it calls forth are tenuous at best. It's a weak narrative device and the returns are already starting to diminish. No amount of internal monologues of Liko wondering if she's good enough will make up for the fact that she never has to DO anything.
All of this would be forgiven if there was something lively and fun going on in each episode, but more often than not, they're overfull of exposition, 'build-up', and point-A-to-point-B shit happening to move the characters to the next setpiece. It feels passionless and devoid of life.
