It's just the fact that Mewtwo fans like myself have been part of the franchise since the very start, we appreciate what makes this franchise great, and other legendaries is just a slap in the face. Mewtwo is essentially a joke pokemon like Farfetch'd now.
I don't think Game Freak is appealing to their original audience anymore. They just don't care about their true fans anymore.
