Absol's face is meant to resemble a Yin Yang symbol. As a symbol it means that light and darkness contain a small seed of the other, that good and evil are not only opposites who oppose one another but at the same time good does not exist without evil and vice versa.
It's a Dark Type that isn't actually evil or bad. It has "evil powers" but it chooses to use them for good.
