He also wasn't able to see the flaws in super saiyan grade 2, so likely he would pic something with a low speed stat just because it also had a high offensive stat.
With all these things considered, Trunks would likely choose Camerupt in an attempt to counter his main enemies, but would be taken by surprise when his opponents use their superior speed and coverage moves to beat his slow frail mixed attacker.
