Wew. I'm still in disbelief. The writers had an excellent buildup in the palm of their hands, but they dropped it harder than Fat Man on Nagasaki. They hyped up Ash winning the next league since the last episode of BW. The special synchro form, the battle against the champion, the progress, everything. Also, the fact that he kept losing against Alain was the perfect opportunity to make him win this time, but they completely shat on storytelling 101. This felt like someone swapped the "Ash wins the Kalos League" episode and aired "Winning isn't Everything, Kids #6" for shits and giggles. All the more so because there are two animations of Greninja hurling the orange shuriken; one with ink splotches and the other with the swirling vapor. It all feels very off.
I really hope the battle was rigged. Does anyone know if that Malva and TR interaction about "Greninja's defeat" is legit?
