>>53082086One of the programmers was clearly a Unovafan. H. Samurott didn’t just win, it basically became the Charizard of PLA.
>only PLA starter to get a brand new ability, and that ability is perfectly tailores to it, working well with many moves that it already uses> signature move is effectively 100 BP, sets up spikes, and cannot be blocked because nothing is immune dark>resists both of Gholdengo’s STAB, hits it super effectively, outspeeds it, and can even set up hazards against it since Gold as Good only stops status moves >has either super effective STAB or coverage against all the broken Ruin Pokémon while only being weak grass snail which it’s faster than anyway >most of its competition for Water/Dark was either Dexited or nerfed Meanwhile another programmer (or possibly the same one) was so salty about Typhlosion being picked for Legends instead of CHARIZARD, that they went out of their way to sabotage H.Typhlosion. No new special moves, Game flooded with fire/ghost competition for no reason, flash being replaced with frisk as soon as the VGC rules changed to make Frisk literally not an ability anymore
The only reason it isn’t dead on arrival is because the legends team gave it just enough so that the scarlet violet team couldn’t completely fuck it over. Ghost is an inherently good type on offensive Pokémon, and Fire/Ghost alone is solid coverage, 119SpA is incredible for a starter and dropping down to 95 speed isn’t too bad since not many things relevant things brewed 95-100 speed. Eruption and Focus 70% Blast/30%Miss from Typhlosion prime help a lot. And getting Calm Mind is excellent, letting it set up its already high SpA along woth patching up it SpD which synergizes well with Infernal Parade causing burns.
Not sure how Owl will fair but Scrappy plus it’s signature move sounds pretty good, though it’s typing is quite saturated and it’s speed if kind of yikes even after setting up once with trailblaze.
