Some likely predictions for the Switch Pokemon games, based on all the leaks we've seen and just my own intuition about what Game Freak "might" do:
>it's a soft reboot, but softer than Gen V
>forced starter based on version
>GF will give us one new Eeveelution, likely a Dragon because it's the last unused special type and the foil to Sylveon
>they will retcon how we get every Eeveelution except the original 5, just to make it easier on the player. This means we may actually be able to use the Leaf Stone on Eevee, for example
>Pikachu will be able to evolve into Raichu, Alolan Raichu, or some unknown third evolution, likely based on Gorochu and Electric/Dark to balance out Alolan Raichu's Electric/Psychic
>there will be some item that lets you evolve or breed Alolan forms, so players can get an Alolan Raichu easily (along with anything else)
>all the crossgen evolutions will be there
>some of the fan favorites and meme Pokemon unrelated to Kanto will be there too (Lucario, Rockruff, Wobbuffett, etc.)
>they will probably introduce new Pokemon, several based on the scrapped ideas they suddenly started talking about
>there is the potential we get regional forms for newer Pokemon post Gen IV, but I wouldn't count on it
>we will definitely be getting new evolutions/forms for Gen I Pokemon again
>the battle system will remain the same
>but encountering Pokemon will be done like Go, in that you can see the Pokemon on the overworld
>some Pokemon will require you to actually sneak up on them or something similar
>you can now literally throw your Pokeball and spin the ball, add a curve, etc. for finesse (but it won't change how easily you catch the Pokemon)
>Pokemon will actively try to dodge your ball unless you knock them down to nearly 1HP
>Kanto will be revamped to include larger and more diverse takes on the towns, routes largely the same but new nooks and crannies that weren't there before
