Anime isn't fucked because of Ash. Anime is fucked because TCPi's "international standards" sanitized the series of all the irreverent goofiness. And the march of time moved Pokemon on the whole away from an emphasis on the beauty of the natural world. Anime of today isn't bad because of Ash or a lack of Ash or whatever, the anime is bad today because it's so commercialized it can't even have fun character interactions or inspire awe. Changing of the protag wont help or hurt that fact. It'll still be sanitized shit still.
People want the anime to make them laugh, warm their hearts, and make them wanna go out on an adventure in the world. Ashime hasn't done this since Shudo left. It's not about to start with a new protagonist. The anime pillar of Pokemon will continue it's death march until it changes course.
