A lot of people miss Cheren's character arc entirely. He starts off as a know it all smart ass who after each defeat starts seething more and more. If it weren't for Alder and Marshal's intervention he probably would've lost himself in that anger and ambition much like Alder did in his youth. Bianca is great because she's finding herself. Yes she's not strong and she realizes this, she acknowledges that battles aren't for her. And I think that's neat, she constantly has to overcome adversities on her journey of self discovery, even her father doesn't believe in her.
Hugh is great because he is your friend, but he's not overly bubbly like May or that autistic faggot Barry he's cool and how a friendly rival should be, he has his own goal besides becoming champion, his own story aside from yours and that's something the Gen 5 games did so well, each character had their own motivation. But retards think "hurdurr character doesn't have daddy issues or isn't an obvious douche so they're friendly xD"
