>>22219357>>22222043>>22222358>>22228698All these anons are correct. Scald is the worst idea GF's ever had for a balanced move. Burns have always been Fire-type's schtick (but also Ghosts, I suppose) and yet Scald is the absolute best move for inflicting Burn status regardless.
>15% more accuracy than Will-O-Miss>80 Base Power>A whopping 30% chance to Burn - ignoring moves exclusive to Legendaries, a probability only beaten by Inferno (100% Burn chance but at 50% accuracy) and tied with Lava Plume (which has shit distribution)>The vast majority of Fire-type moves that cause Burns do so about 10% of the time>Scald isn't the signature move of some Fire/Water pokemon but instead a TM teachable to basically fucking everythingThe least that could be done is massively lower Scald's power, or greatly decrease its Burn probability. Why wouldn't they just improve Lava Plume's distribution or make it a TM? Why did they make Water-types even fucking stronger? In a metagame where "Bulky Water" is a subclass all in itself I just can't fathom why they felt it necessary to make an extremely effective burn inflicter that ALSO does solid damage.
