I took the time to make Pokemon Brown into a eshop-accurate VC game for the 3DS. One version is already perfect and is using the original Game Boy VC as a base, complete with both the original green tint and and also the gray colour scheme. Pic related. I did this purely because Brown is a hack of Red Version, and therefore I believe using the GB is the most accurate way to recreate the game.
That being said the last update for the ROM hack was in 2014, so I wanted to create a second version of the VC inject that replicated playing the game on a Game Boy Colour. When you used a Red or Blue cart in a Game Boy Colour, the console would display each game with either it's red or blue colour palette. For this version I am using the Game Boy Colour's brown pallet scheme, as well as the colour scheme used by the Super Game Boy to display the Red or Blue versions when plugged into the SNES. All well and good so far.
The problem comes with trying to use a Game Boy Colour border image instead of the default Game Boy. I have edited the .png myself to make sure it's the correct resolution for the GB VC (400x240) and that the screen would fit inside the transparent hole. When booted inside the 3DS however, I am greeted with this (I'll show it in the next post). Can anyone help me out here? Or do you think this will look like shit and I'm wasting my time.
