Pokémon have always taken a cue from pop culture and folklore, which is probably why Palkia reminds us of so much of Mecha Godzilla. And honestly that's reason enough for him to be on the list. He's Pokémon Pearl's cover Pokémon, a massive beast that can control space itself.
