I bred up a shiny Noibat using a 6IV Ditto my friend gave me. Modest, Infiltrator, all max IVs except for Attack. It's my favorite of the bunch. Kicks a bit of ass in the Battle Spot.
I also hatched, consecutively, two shiny Fennekin. Being 3am, I thought I was sleep deprived and had some deja vu or something, but nope. And 7 eggs into breeding for a decent Chespin, I got a shiny.
I've only done SRing a few times for legendaries, and only in Omega Ruby. 100 SRs for Cobalion, 1100 for Reshiram. And overall, somewhere around 1700 for Virizion because my Swellow got a crit on it and I had to find it again. Even then, the second time it forced me to use my Master Ball because there was no way I was gonna do that bullshit a third time. I've also fished up a few Magikarp, a Luvdisc, hatched a Clauncher, Honedge, Koffing, found an Eevee (now a Sylveon) and a Phantump in the Friend Safari, and managed to find THREE Roselia in OR while training.
Other times have been not so great. I lost a shiny Abra in Emerald because it popped out of the ball and ran away. And a shiny Electrode in FireRed that blew itself up against my Haunter.
All in all, I find it weird that I've been able to find all the shinies I do after years of never finding a single one. Kind of a double-edged sword with the new games. You're given a better chance, but they become so common some people just become bitter that the novelty is barely there anymore.
