Even when merch numbers slump or the new gen doesn't sell as many new plushies as they want, they just crank out a new "series" of plushies that are bigger or a different color and then they make another billion. On the other hand, the only people who still buy Pokemon games are those who literally, physically, mentally, and metaphorically can't NOT buy Pokemon games, so trying to tell people to avoid buying them or to wait and see if the game's any good first is no different than yelling at a wall.
Even here on /vp/, the game will come out and the threads will underperform because people legit don't care about the games themselves anymore.
95%% of Pokemon fans either care about the porn, the competitive scene(s), and collecting plushies.
