The idea being that "God", a being on a higher dimensional plane, would be, for lack of a better term, too big to fit entirely into a lower dimension. So the original spirit (what God is called in mysticism) comes into a lower plane via egg through a vortex, and creates the universe. People cannot distinguish between Arceus and the original spirit and, from a certain point of view, they are the same being.
