Nah.
Was I disappointed at the removal of following Pokemon? Yes. More than I probably should have been.
But they were great games, lots of polish. Visually and emotionally appealing. BW2 extended that sentiment in every way.
Now, XY? It was like BW all over again. Not quite as magical but still great, and it was a great time to be on /vp/ too. ORAS came and went and it was.. frustrating.
Then when SM was revealed, we were all excited for it to "all come together"
But it never did. SM didn't bring anything together. It was like a cut tagline. Generations felt like a bad joke.
Then the games came out, and after we had just finished shitting on how bad Gen 6 was, Gen 7 managed to be worse in every single way.
It was SM for me. Everything since has just been a cycle of dashed hopes and disappointment.
Gen 7 on are conceptually good, but that's it. They never deliver. Alola started a lot of trends like the guided gameplay/Kanto pandering/obligatory gimmick phase that just never sat well with me.
But Platinum all the way to BW2 will always be in a special place in my heart.
