I much preferred Ash in the role of 'Goh's best bro' rather than the sort of messiah-like super trainer the series pushed him as. JN was mostly about two buddies going on misadventures and experiencing the world, so having it end on this supermassive global note of Ash becoming the world's best trainer felt really dishonest to me.
