>>32276649Serperior must sacrifice Coil if it wants to make use of Contrary, and its special movepool isn't as good as its physical one; Emboar is slow, has the lowest defences of all starters, is the only dual-type Unova starter and ANOTHER Fire/Fighting type and Reckless encourages it to spend the stat it needs to achieve anything; Samurott's stats don't really go anywhere, Shell Armor is relatively meh and it got cucked out of a secondary type.
All three Unova starters also suffer from "mixed offences screwing over other stats and no moves" syndrome.
Bulletproof doesn't entirely make up for Chesnaught's bad special defence and speed, but it thankfully has a nice movepool; Delphox has a horrible and often redundant movepool, Magician is borderline useless as a hidden ability; and both of them have horrible egg movepools and were neglected since their introduction so Greninja could be shilled even more.
Decidueye has low defence, a uselessly high special attack and a mediocre movepool; Incineroar loses speed and becomes slower than Litten despite having a special movepool on par with Decidueye and having the same special attack as Torracat, doesn't get moves you would think a heel fire tiger would have like Fire Punch and Sucker Punch and has an iffy movepool as well; Primarina's signature move lacks the damage boost of the other status-affected attacks and hits allies, and its hidden ability is complete shit since it lacks the power boost of the other type changing abilities and only has two or three moves that works with it.
In contrast, Greninja has magnificient movepools in all four categories, a hidden ability that allows it to gain STAB on any attack, a special form that gains more points than a Mega, a 60 BP priority move and boosts its already high offences and speed to insane levels; receives several distributions, becomes the star of the anime come XYZ, the only fully evolved starter in Gens V/VI to be owned by a main character and ends up in SSB4.
