Blue, in 2008. Parents thought that pokemon was evil so I was kept away from it until I found the cartridge in an after school club. Still had my working GBC so I played it on that. Went out and got Pearl a week later.

Gen 4. Platinum had best battles, storyline and music. Heartgold was huge and I completed the dex for the first time there. So many hours of exploring, discovering collecting to complete the dex without internet/guide aid. Sinnoh best region.

Black introduced some great mons. Excadrill, Lilligant and Audino are all bro tier.

Online battling. IV breeding means that my favourites finally have a chance against teams of legendaries.
