>>37170910>break the entire lore of PokémonIn what way? That they can ascend even higher but only temporarily or what? I'm not sure I understand how mega evos break the lore.
>and create disastrous balance issuesThat's more on Game Freak than the concept itself. As a concept it's fine when it's for Pokemon that actually need it (Farfetch'd again is my example, Beedrill desperately needs it to actually be competitive, Mawile, Sableye, and so on). Single evo Pokemon should be the priority for mega evos and not legendaries or multiple evolution Pokemon. Things like Smeargle, Farfetch'd, Emolga, Hawlucha, etc. I don't mean these specific Pokemon exactly since I know Hawlucha is plenty fine on its own, but single evo Pokemon and Pokemon that have bad damage in general even multiple evos in should for sure take priority.
>Fairy was just a bad marketing and game balancing strategy. It's perfectly fine. As I said earlier it made Poison stop being absolute shit and viable, it took dragons down a peg, and it gave Steel something to work with. Yes, it was definitely used for marketing, but it helps to reorient certain Pokemon to the type and it gives more freedom with team choices while balancing things. Remember how Klefki was dominating in gen 6 because it could handle dragons but it wasn't that overpowered? That's good balance.
>If I were to scour through gens 5-7 (which I have) and pick out the Pokémon I liked, I would MAYBE have 3In gen 7 alone I have well over two dozen designs I like, I like a majority of gen 5, gen 6 has some amazing ones like Talonflame's line, Hawlucha, Trevenant, Clawitzer's line, Aegislash's line, and so on. You sound incredibly picky and I don't understand why.
