>>35345468You can get a Low Kick Mankey or a Butterfree with Confusion (which it gets at 10 in Yellow, which is the evolution level.) which while not super effective was good enough (and kids emulating Ash did ALWAYS get a Butterfree for obvious reasons) before Brock, Pikachu utterly wrecks Misty and after that you get all 3 R/B starters for 0 effort that basically every kid jumped on to include on their team. Pikachu is a weakpoint but the game gives more then enough to help kids win without needing to bench it. It probably just looks like little because now we have XY/ORAS/SUMO/USUM, but back on my playground there was a consensus Yellow was the easiest version.
