However, anthropomorphism is not that bad, many monsters are anthropomorphic. The real problem is when you make 2-3 starters antropomorphic, or when they do not look like functional creatures that could live in the wild, breaking any kind of immersion.
The point of having 3 starters is allowing the players with different preferences to choose whatever they like, if you make 2 or 3 anthro starters, just to milk more of them by trying to appeal to the most profitable public, it sucks for many.
Also, blaziken or even primarina, look like things that could live in the wild. But then you have cinderace or incineroar, who not only look humanoid, but have equivalents of clothes just to reference themes that make no sense in wild environments. If they wanted to make a soccer bunny, there wasn't any need for the forced sports clothes pattern on their fur. They should just have made a standing bunny that kicks fireballs like soccer, to defend itself in the wild, and the sports theme would be evident enough, without forcing it, with a more natural color pattern on its fur.
Many people like cinderace because it is charismatic, but with the previous changes it would maintain or even boost its popularity while it would stop being controversial to some others
