The Professor gives them a Dex and a Starter hoping that the Pokemon Journey could be the spark they've needed. As it turns out, they've got some chops when it comes to Pokemon training.
>PersonalityA bit defeatist at first but once they start clearing the gyms, there's a big swing in mood and confidence. However, there's a marked shift come League time where they realize that they and the protag are essentially doomed to step on each others dream.
>PartnerThe starter weak to the protag's but gets the region's Pseudo early to match their late bloomer style.
>TeamPic related, went with Alola for hypotheticals. Outside of the starter, the team is mostly late evolvers or late finds.
>ActionsStarts out the game in a pretty deep funk about their lack of talent but starts to come into their own, even despite a few stumbling blocks via challenges to the protag, even to the point of effectively sniping the villain leader while the protag deals with the admins. As the end of Victory Road looms, there's a moment of genuine anguish as they want to be the best they can but not want to do it at the expense of effectively taking away something their rival/friend has shown themselves so capable of and effectively rendering them to the same lot they started out with.
