Anywhere between uninformed/misinformed stuff to conspiracy level stuff because they don't trust big pharma or something.For the first year of his journey, Ayumu didn't know the official names of the moves his Pokémon had, or even the species of the Pokémon themselves, so whenever he got a new Pokémon, he would give it a nickname, but as soon as he got to a city, he would go straight to a Pokémon Center, and ask the nurse Joy "What is this Pokémon?!" while lifting it to her face.
As for the moves, he would just call it whatever it looked like. Moves like "Headbutt" and "Bite" were easy enough to get right, but "Powder Snow" became "Snow Wind", "Ice Shard" became "Ice Rocks", "Icy Wind" became "Snow Wind but stronger" (kinda like how Riko commands Sprigatito to use Leafage in different ways), etc. Then 7 GYMs later, he finally got a PokéDex and could look up the moves' names.
