>>54854203You are conflating art style and 3D rendering styles again. PLA and SV aren't that different in character art style, pic related. The reason why the games look so different is the stylistic choice of how things are supposed to look in the engine. PLA goes for a cel shaded style while SV's style tries to approach realism with very soft lighting and realistic-ish normalmaps to create more detailed textures and reflections.
Sugimori's artstyle did change a bit, but not that much. A more reasonable comparison would be something like Dawn and Liko.
