Actually, the stripes could work. Have you heard about a zonkey? It's practically a mule, except it's a donkey/zebra crossing instead of donkey/horse. That's what the striped legs make me think of, and I kinda like that.
And yes, it's bigger than both it's parents. It's because of some weird genetic thing that causes hybrids to grow much larger than normal, like with ligers.
