Apparently I didn't get the memo that a Pokemon being a "shitmon" (9 times out of 10 the Pokemon isn't even THAT bad), has an impact on the Pokemon's actual design and makes it less visually and conceptually appealing. It's as though that if a Pokemon is good, people will conveniently ignore all of the horrendous design flaws but if a Pokemon is "bad", people will go to the ends of the earth to nitpick every small thing about it.
