GSC/HGSS would have been better if the game was more linear. A JRPG with leveling party members just does not work without linearity. That would have fixed the NPC trainer level curve, the wild pokemon level curve, no need to grind, and Kanto trainers and wild pokemon would have been from the 50's to 70's like they needed to have been. Kanto GYMs would have actually been a challenge. Also the trainer teams are really fucked up. They should be getting stronger as you progress, but they don't. Silver still has shit like Golbat in the post game, and Brock, a post game boss, has a fucking Onix, Rhyhorn, and Graveler. Also so many johto mons are useless trash dex filler like Sunflora, like you can only catch Sunkern midway through the game in a single location, while fucking Gloom and Weepinbell are found all over the Johto map and are more useful than Sunflora when not even fully evolved. Pokemon like Houndour, Slugma, Misdreavus, Larvitar, Sneasel, and Murkrow aren't even found in Johto for some reason. Just why?
