You're right that Satoshi needs to have consistency it's annoying that because they refuse to age him each season they reset his knowledge and experience but at the same time don't. like if he went on all those adventures how come each season he needs to be explained what a double battle for example. Also it's extremely frustrating that he never wins the league, he could very easily win a league drop his pokemon off at professor oak except pikachu and still face challenges in the new region. (i don't think he should win EVERY region either but he shorted every single time and i'm told kalos is the worst because he gets to the semi finales and still loses WHICH EVERYONE FORGETS BY SUN AND MOON) I don't think they will ever retire ash but it would be nice to see some character progression even if it's a kids show.
