They have a rule that everything they add to their world must be feasible ("it can't just ahve spikes everywhere, you need to think how it would use those spikes"). They decided the pink squishy gremlin thing hunts Corviknight to get its hammer. The very existence of it proves it breaks birbs, else Game Freak wouldn't have added it.
