Never mind, in the anime the Ultra Beasts WERE just weird pokémon from another dimension, instead of eldritch horrors intent on destroying all around them (save Guzzlord, which was just displayed as a mindless extreme omnivore) including Necrozma, which was shown to protect a Naganadel/Poipole's nest, driving it into a coma where it awoke famished and driven to extremes for sustenance). And that was stated in-game too, hell Lillie even proposes using Nebby to share its light with necrozma after the separation and capture of it.
