I still remember when they took away everyone's shining balloon Pikachu
there was a screw up that lasted less than an hour or two
everyone who caught it had it removed from their inventory
farfetchd was also part of this glitch
I happen to be spoofing at that exact time
the shiny farfetchd was somehow exempt from the removal & i got to keep it
that's probably the rarest shiny I ever caught
safely stored in home now
