My heart pounds in my chest as I limp through the snowy woods of Hoenn. I can hear their howls and barks; they're closing in on me, I can't stop now. With blood seeping from my wound, leaving a trail that'll lead them right to me, so it's only a matter of time before I'm caught again. The winter air chills me to the bone, slowly sapping my energy and will to go on; I won't hurt if I just take a small nap up a tree, right? It'll just be a couple of minutes, no harm.
Stumbling up to the nearest pine tree in the area, I try to rest against its trunk for a moment; just to catch my breath. The throbbing pain in my leg from where I was bitten doesn't subside through, in fact, it only seems to be getting worse. A rustling noise from one of the bushes nearby catches my attention, followed by a deep and throaty howl, the sort of howl that the leader of a pack would make if she were calling her packmates to her side. As two bright red eyes appear in the darkness, the sounds of excited yipping and growling fill the air around me; they're here.
A deep, piercing pain travels up my calf as I try and stand up to run away. I stumble along the ground until I fall face-first into the snow; my blood staining the surface below. One pair of eyes turns into two, then three, all staring down at me from the bushes. The first of the pack emerges from the darkness; she's the largest of the three by far, likely the alpha. The other two follow behind her, before starting circle me, sniffing curiously.
The big Mightyena stops and bares her fangs at me, my dried blood still crusted on her fur from earlier. She licks her lips, tasting my essence, savouring it. My heart races in fear as the two smaller Mightyena begin growling and barking, eager to get on with whatever they have planned for me. With a quick snarl, she commands the other two to back off. They quickly listen, calming down and letting her handle things.
